Each year, Lowell Five’s Employees choose four charitable organizations from a list of employee elected nominees to be the recipients of a Quarterly Charitable Giving Award. The award is the proceeds from voluntary employee donations matched by the Bank.
The Wish Project’s mission is to help families in crisis by providing immediate critical assistance to the homeless and victims of fire or disaster. The Wish Project receives donations of no-longer-needed furnishings, household goods, infant and child-related goods and other basic household items, and makes these donations available to qualifying families in need across the Merrimack Valley. Qualified families are referred to The Wish Project by state agencies and local shelters.
“Lowell Five employees have often volunteered for The Wish Project in a variety of different ways,” explained Christopher St. Croix, the Bank’s Network Officer, who serves on the Employee Charitable Giving Committee. “Our employees recognize the invaluable service this non-profit provides to our friends and neighbors throughout the Merrimack Valley, as well as the considerable time and effort it takes to run the Wish Project’s operation.”
On Wednesday, October 16, 2019, Lowell Five Bank President and Chief Executive Officer, David Wallace, and a group of representatives from the Employee Charitable Giving Committee (ECGC) presented Jill Maker, The Wish Project’s Chief Operations Officer with a check for $7,700. The award represents the total employee elected charitable payroll contribution for the third quarter of 2019, equally matched by Lowell Five Bank.
In addition to the monetary award, members of the ECGC also organized an employee “Backpack Attack Drive” and a 50/50 raffle to benefit the children of the families helped by The Wish Project. In August, committee members delivered 38 backpacks and a check for over $700 to support the purchase of additional school supplies, to The Wish Project’s Operations & Donation Center located at 166 Middlesex Street in North Chelmsford, MA.
