Tewksbury, MA – Lowell Five Bank employees have chosen the Children’s Dyslexia Center – Boston North to receive their 2021 Q1 Lowell Five Employee Charitable Giving Award. The $8,550 award represents the total employee-elected charitable payroll contribution for the first quarter of 2021 and a 100% match by Lowell Five Bank.
Dyslexia is a common learning difficulty that causes problems with reading, writing, and spelling. According to the National Institute of Health, dyslexia is one of the most common causes of reading difficulties in elementary school children. With early intervention, dyslexic children can become better readers without the anxiety that often accompanies the struggle to read.
In Lowell, the Boston North Children’s Dyslexia Center, located at 79 Dutton Street, is one of 47 learning centers throughout 13 states sponsored by the Scottish Rite Masons. Each Children’s Dyslexia Center provides on-site tutoring to children with dyslexia from grades 1-12 at no cost to families. Their goal is to partner with local communities to assist children diagnosed with dyslexia in regaining confidence and self-esteem using proven methods of reading instruction, tutoring, and dyslexia remediation. The Centers also train teachers and other qualified individuals to become certified in their IMSLEC© accredited courses and earn continuing educations credits. Children’s Dyslexia Centers are supported by community donations, local fundraising, and grants.
Archie Campbell, Chair of the Board of Governors of the Children’s Dyslexia Center – Boston North, thanked Lowell Five Employees for their generous support. “Your donation will support the training component of our program staff, some operating expenses, and allow us to increase the number of students we serve next year by 30%,” Mr. Campbell stated.
Each year, Lowell Five’s Employees choose four charitable organizations from a list of employee-elected nominees to be the recipients of a Quarterly Employee Charitable Giving Award.
